San Francisco Opera
A world-renowned company, San Francisco Opera is a must-see for all serious opera fans. Their current season features a variety of productions, both beloved classics and bold new works. See Manon through Nov. 22; Turandot, playing Nov. 18-Dec. 9; or the original California story of Girls of the Golden West, Nov. 21-Dec.10.
San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus
The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus will perform Elfstravaganza, their latest holiday performance full of seasonal classics. It's guaranteed to be uproarious and tongue-in-cheek, but also sweet and sentimental. Performances at the Nourse Theater take place Dec. 8 and 9.
Need even more magic in your holiday? Visit the Genie and the cast of Aladdin while they play the SHN Orpheum Theater, now through Jan. 7, 2018. This animated classic is now a big, bold, Broadway musical, full of the songs you love and surprises you won't see coming.
Holiday Sing-Along at the Presidio
Gather around the piano on Dec. 15 at the Presidio Officers’ Club to share music and holiday cheer. Performers from 42nd Street Moon will sing seasonal favorites and festive drinks from Arguello restaurant will be available for purchase.
A Christmas Carol
The holiday classic returns to A.C.T.'s Geary Theater, Dec. 1-24. The legendary Charles Dickens tale gets its own unique retelling here, as it has been adapted and directed by A.C.T.'s artistic director, Carey Perloff. Buy your tickets now, as this San Francisco favorite sells out fast!
One of San Francisco’s most beautiful landmarks, Grace Cathedral will be hosting a number of concerts this holiday season. There's "A Cathedral Christmas," happening Dec. 9, 10, 16, 17 and 22, as well as "Sing You A Merry Christmas," on Dec. 9, 16, 22 and 23. Handel's Messiah will be performed, Dec. 13-15. And don't miss the one-night-only "A Brass and Organ Christmas" on Dec. 18.
San Francisco Symphony
Get into the Christmas spirit with the famous San Francisco Symphony. The acclaimed orchestra is offering delightful holiday musical experiences that are perfect for the whole family. Highlights include Peter and the Wolf on Dec. 10 and A Charlie Brown Christmas, Dec. 21-24.
The recently renovated Curran Theater continues its outstanding season with Bright Star, a musical written by Steve Martin (yes, that Steve Martin!). The production comes to San Francisco with its original Broadway lead, Carmen Cusack, from Nov. 28 to Dec. 17.
