EVP/Chief Sales Officer 

The mission of the San Francisco Travel Association is to enhance the local economy by marketing San Francisco and the Bay Area as the premier destination for conventions, meetings events and leisure travel. We are the economic engine for the city, and travel is our fuel – it is solely our unique point of view as the city’s travel expert that allows us to see the entire destination rather than industry-by-industry.

This individual will serve as member of the executive team to oversee all convention sales and services activities of the San Francisco Travel Association.  This will include responsibility for all Convention Division activities to include the long-range marketing of the City and County of San Francisco’s major convention facilities.  Work closely with the President and all EVP’s and Strategic Advisors.  Direct reports include the Sr. Vice President, Convention Sales; Sr. Director, Market Strategy & Research; Executive Associate; Vice President, National Sales.

Responsible for all Division budgetary matters to include planning and implementation of programs.  Works with Meeting & Convention Council and Core Hotel Group for greater transparency and accountability to the conference and convention hotels.  Interfaces with the Board of Directors and Association’s Executive Committee, the leadership of the Moscone Center, key community stakeholders and works closely with the elected Committee Chairman in all matters related to sales. 

What you will be doing:

Very high visibility internally and externally, including customer/stakeholder groups as appropriate. 
Interacts with industry peers as necessary
Coordinates with other EVP’s in the San Francisco Travel Association. Coordinates with staff at all impact levels as necessary, and understands that internal relationships are as important as external relationships
Communicate with appropriate diplomacy and sensitivity in both internal and external relations. 
Collaborates with and manages expectations of President and CEO.
Work with the executive team to create the strategic direction and organization of sales division.
Administer and monitors all activities within Convention Sales, Convention Services, National Sales, and Market Strategy, as well as research impacted by citywide groups. 
Develop the Division’s Annual Program of Work and assist in the development and on -going refinement of the San Francisco Travel Association’s strategic business plan.
Serve as senior sales person and act as authority in all matters relating to long – range and short-term sales strategies that maximize the city’s convention facilities defined by number of citywide events and booked citywide room nights
Oversee strategic direction and planning of the citywide and self-contained customer advisory councils with the Senior Vice President of Sales and Senior Director, Convention Services
Responsible for all budgeting for the division.  Approval of all expenditures for the division including individual expense reports for division leadership personnel.
Administer assignments of special promotional activities, and all activity included in the division’s Program of Work.
Work closely with SVP, Convention Sales, implementing San Francisco Travel Association’s policy as it relates to day-to-day account management and destination marketing.  Closely monitor division’s progress toward booking goals and lead development quotas.
Work closely with all Division Vice Presidents to ensure complete integration of all sales and marketing programs into San Francisco Travel Association’s overall activities.
Oversee all operations of the Washington, DC and Chicago Sales Offices, as well as other remote sales staff supporting regional offices.
Responsible for all division staffing to include the review and / or hiring of all personnel.  Approval of division time sheets.
Responsible for the development of the division’s statistical reports.
Initiate and develop promotional plans with members of the sales and marketing committees and hospitality community.
Attend major convention/trade conferences and trade shows as the official San Francisco representative for critical domestic meeting & convention markets.
Assist with San Francisco Travel Association’s publications and collateral.
Participate in planning activities with San Francisco Travel Association’s Executive staff.
Work with all EVP’s and President in determining overall San Francisco Travel Association’s priorities.
Oversee preparation of material for Meeting & Convention Council chairs for use at Committee, Executive Committee and Board meetings.   Keep sales committees apprised of Division’s activities.
Oversee the control of selling Moscone Center to make sure the booking policies are adhered to.
Participate in and attend San Francisco Travel Association’s sponsored events.
Oversee all Revenue Management related activities that directly relate to the space management of Moscone Convention Facilities.
Oversight of the Meetings and Conventions Council
Other duties may be assigned.  
Directly supervises Convention Sales & Services Division.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities with the San Francisco Travel Association’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Seven to ten years of experience in the hospitality industry directly related to strategic sales leadership in maximizing the growth of in-house hotel group meetings and citywide conventions. 
Prior convention and visitor’s bureau experience or hotel sales experience preferred.  Must possess administrative skills with budget experience and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate and work well with others in a professional office environment.
Ability to handle multiple priorities.
Education and training equivalent to college graduate -- business degree preferable.

Associate, Design

This person will provide administrative and departmental support for the Creative Services and Marketing Communications functions as well as assist the Manager, Design with administrative duties as well as share responsibility for new and ongoing Marketing projects. 

What you will be doing:

Manage photo requests for San Francisco Travel’s online photo and video library in addition to updating the database when new content is provided. 
Support the Marketing Communications department by creating print and online deliverables including promotional materials and collateral, emails and webpage updates.
Manage the print production for Creative Services including coordination with print vendors and invoicing.
Act as primary contact and design backup when the design manager is traveling on business and/or unavailable.
Create and update information for San Francisco Travel lobby monitors when needed.
Manage Creative Services invoices and maintain budget information as needed.
Generate reporting from the organization’s project management system (Atlassian)
Responsible for receiving and effectively handling written correspondence, telephone calls and emails from current and prospective partners, community sponsors, government agencies, vendors and creative agencies performing services for the departments, and internal customers.
Responsible for interacting with support staff across the association to assist with preparation, coordination and planning of meetings, events, reports and presentations as needed.
Communicate with appropriate diplomacy and sensitivity in both internal and external relations.
Perform content updating in the organization’s content management system as assigned.
Provide cross-organizational support on special projects that require additional assistance, and may fill in for other associate staff in emergencies

Advance proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud environment applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat)
Skill in print design and preflight/production including detailed management of high volume of design files and print vendors to manage print creative lifecycle through to completion
Excellent command of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook
Successful candidate will have general understanding of project management processes for marketing related projects
General knowledge of web content management systems
Proven success in a demanding administrative support role
Education and training equivalent to an AA in Business or a related field plus 1-3 years of general clerical or administrative support work, preferably in a marketing or media relations department or organization

Associate, Visitor Experience – Seasonal 

The Associate, Visitor Experience drives results and enhances the visitors experience by providing exceptional service that supports San Francisco Travel’s mission by acting as an ambassador at our Visitor Information Center. The mission of the San Francisco Travel Association is to enhance the local economy by marketing San Francisco and the Bay Area as the premier destination for conventions, meetings events and leisure travel. 

What you will be doing:

  • Assist a diverse and international set of visitors in their travel details, providing expert assistance and recommendations in San Francisco restaurants, attractions, tours, and neighborhoods. 
  • Assess needs by responding to visitor cues and asking questions to arrive at the best recommendation for that individual or group. .
  • Educate customers on the benefits of all products carried by the ViC. (City Pass, Muni Passport, Hop on Hop off buses, etc)
  • Completes all cashier-required transactions with accuracy and efficiency, selling transportation packages, tour packages, and attraction tickets.
  • Assigned as needed to work the City Information Desk at the Moscone Center, assisting business and convention travelers with recommendations for after work activities. 
  • Work efficiently to assist visitors while maintaining an excellent standard of service
  • Assist in necessary duties to present the best possible experience for visitors, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. (example: restocking brochures, organizing displays, greeting and crowd control, etc)
  • Constantly building your knowledge and expertise of the San Francisco experience, completing all provided training and activities to familiarize yourself with the services offered by partners of San Francisco Travel (example: attending attraction tours and open houses, going on half day excursions to popular destinations, keeping up to date on city news and events)
  • Compliance with all SF Travel policies and procedures.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, which will require weekend shifts.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment for a full eight hour shift. 
  • Ability to work in a 100% standing environment.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
