Vice President, Public Policy & Executive Programs

This position will manage, coordinate and/or direct relations between the San Francisco Travel Association and all aspects of the public and private sectors in relation to public policy matters that have the potential to impact the mission of the association including but not limited to public policy, neighborhood/community engagement, diversity and inclusion initiatives, volunteerism, Board of Directors engagement and industry relations.    This position will also assist the CEO in the overall management, planning and coordination of major external, executive office and Board of Directors-related initiatives.

What you’ll be doing:

Very high visibility internally and externally, including customer/stakeholder groups as appropriate 
Interacts with industry peers as necessary
Coordinates with other Vice Presidents in division and across organization
Coordinates with staff at all impact levels as necessary, and understands that internal relationships are as important as external relationships
Communicate with appropriate diplomacy and sensitivity in both internal and external relations
Collaborates with and manages expectations of Executive Team
Manages staff
Help create, direct and implement public policy and issues management decisions and priorities
Represent the association with a seat at the table in discussions impacting the future of San Francisco as a destination
Work closely with representatives of city government, potential developers, various public and private agencies to promote travel and tourism infrastructure projects that are identified as industry priorities
Be able to work closely and effectively with representatives of all political ideologies
Be able to identify potential legislative, regulatory or community issues that may have a positive or a negative impact on San Francisco as a destination generally, or San Francisco Travel Association specifically, and make recommendations to the association regarding any necessary actions
Work closely with other business organizations, neighborhood associations, unions and government entities to ensure that the best interests of San Francisco as a destination are strongly represented
Analyze potential impacts of ballot measures and ordinances on San Francisco as a destination and make policy recommendations to the association
Effectively represent the association and the industry in public hearings and community meetings
Be a vigilant and productive voice for the association at City Hall, and when necessary at the State and Federal Government levels
Identify barriers, weaknesses and opportunities that would help make San Francisco a better travel destination and propose solutions
Be a powerful voice for the association and the industry regarding all public issues impacting San Francisco as a destination generally and San Francisco Travel specifically
Anticipate and alert the President & CEO and senior management to major issues that may affect San Francisco Travel’s programs and reputation.  Work with appropriate members of the Executive Team to create talking points reflecting the organization’s position on matters of public policy and/or public affairs
Develop advocacy plans to effectively address matters of public policy or community engagement
In conjunction with CEO, manage, plan and oversee Board of Directors engagement processes and programs
Play a lead role and be a key strategic partner working closely with Executive team members in managing other special initiatives as directed by the CEO
Periodically act as San Francisco Travel’s spokesperson on matters impacting the association’s mission, function or external reputation
Manage Public Policy Council, and Diversity Advisory Council 
Direct management of volunteerism efforts
Responsible for developing, administering and monitoring Executive Division budget
Supervise implementation of neighborhood engagement initiatives

Thorough knowledge of effective principles and practices in effective leadership, communication, and public policy

Manager, Email Marketing Operations and Analytics 

The San Francisco brand is among the most compelling and intriguing brands in the world. And for more than 100 years, the San Francisco Travel Association has marketed San Francisco and the Bay Area as the premier destination for conventions, meetings, events and leisure travel. 

We’re looking for a talented and experienced manager to take on a mission critical role owning our email and CRM programs and taking an active role in marketing operations. We’re looking for a candidate who has a variety of experience in the email marketing and operations space managing email execution, marketing campaign set up, database segmentations and growth, automation, reporting and analysis. We’re migrating to Pardot & Salesforce and are ideally searching for someone who has experience with these tools or similar tools / processes.

The position will also provide support to the Communications team with respect to analytics of our key digital programs (web, social, and other digital content).
What you will be doing:

  • Own end-to-end B2B & B2C email programs
  • Work in partnership with the CRM Administrator to maintain data integrity of email lists
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, sales and IT as the primary owner of Pardot and Salesforce marketing program
  • Create and manage marketing campaigns, automation and reporting in Pardot and Salesforce 
  • Analyze data related to email sends to measure marketing performance such as campaign effectiveness, pipeline contribution, user engagement, database health and email deliverability
  • Turn email data into actionable information for other systems, teams and marketing decisions
  • Manage email database segmentations and work with marketing managers and sales teams to improve and define email campaign targeting efficiency and results while minimizing opt-out rates
  • Develop and support lead nurture programs
  • Grow B2B & B2C email database organically through acquisition strategies and set best practices
  • Develop system for increasing progressive profiling of key database segments
  • Expand and optimize marketing operations systems infrastructure for international markets
  • Partner with Marketing Communications in the systematic analysis of key digital marketing programs in addition to email – social, digital advertising, web performance, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 2+ years’ experience working with email, automation, digital marketing, reporting and data
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to think strategically about the metrics, and ability to translate basic data sets into recommendations for marketing and sales leadership
  • Technically Savvy. Experience with Drupal (or other CMS), HTML, CSS, Web Analytics Tools, Salesforce, Pardot – or other similar tools preferred
  • Strong written, verbal and oral presentation communication skills. Must be able to communicate clearly, effectively and creatively, both verbally and in writing; demonstrated ability to positively interact with Association partners, Board of Directors members and industry stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and to prioritize high volume workload to balance unscheduled requests with ongoing major project timelines.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office and/or Mac software
  • Solid knowledge of San Francisco preferred

Senior Manager, Design

The San Francisco brand is among the most compelling and intriguing brands in the world.  For over 100 years the San Francisco Travel Association has marketed San Francisco and the Bay Area as the premier destination for conventions, meetings, events and leisure travel.  It is critical for San Francisco Travel to constantly reinvent itself using fresh creative concepts and ideas to lure first time visitors and reengage prior visitors to San Francisco.  
The role of the Senior Manager, Design for San Francisco Travel is to develop and implement the visual design for the organization’s online and print deliverables.  This position works as part of the Marketing Communications team to design and produce the practical application for use among the San Francisco Travel customers. 
The Senior Manager, Design position is also responsible for working with San Francisco Travel’s agency partners to communicate the San Francisco brand. Following is additional detail regarding the two key areas of experience required:

Briefly what you’ll be doing:

Work with internal and external resources to manage small to large-scale design projects using standard project management methodologies.
Manage oversight of print/web design projects from start to finish including coordination with external parties such as external agencies and print vendors.
Manage internal client expectations by managing multiple priorities for design projects across the organization including large scale implementation of complex projects as well as day-to-day maintenance of organizational fundamentals such as new website content, newsletter templates, etc. 
Assist in the continuous evolution and deployment of the San Francisco Travel branding guidelines to be used organization wide.
Help to establish the creative “voice” for San Francisco Travel by utilizing brand direction to design marketing materials, which strongly communicate the San Francisco brand message. 
Work with internal San Francisco Travel business teams to design and develop innovative print and online creative to support their marketing efforts to include editing and designing ads, email campaigns, brochures, online/banner ads, and other marketing materials.
Translate usability and research findings into design improvements.
Manage and enhance the creative asset library for the San Francisco Travel to include photography, video, and illustration. 

What you’ll need to know:

Education and/or training equivalent to college graduate (design degree), plus five to seven years of experience as a graphic designer.
Prior experience in an agency environment or a design shop a plus.
Ability to participate in a fast-paced marketing organization delivering high quality products in an expedient fashion. 
Extensive experience with digital environments, technologies, content, applications, web browsers and superior knowledge of trends and techniques.
Superior knowledge of current digital trends and techniques.
Extensive knowledge of design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Creative Suite (CS).
Experience designing for multiple browsers and devices.
Familiarity with HTML 5, CSS 3/4, Drupal (current CMS), Divvy (Atlassian).

Associate, Visitor Experience – Seasonal 

The Associate, Visitor Experience drives results and enhances the visitors experience by providing exceptional service that supports San Francisco Travel’s mission by acting as an ambassador at our Visitor Information Center. The mission of the San Francisco Travel Association is to enhance the local economy by marketing San Francisco and the Bay Area as the premier destination for conventions, meetings events and leisure travel. 

What you will be doing:

  • Assist a diverse and international set of visitors in their travel details, providing expert assistance and recommendations in San Francisco restaurants, attractions, tours, and neighborhoods. 
  • Assess needs by responding to visitor cues and asking questions to arrive at the best recommendation for that individual or group. .
  • Educate customers on the benefits of all products carried by the ViC. (City Pass, Muni Passport, Hop on Hop off buses, etc)
  • Completes all cashier-required transactions with accuracy and efficiency, selling transportation packages, tour packages, and attraction tickets.
  • Assigned as needed to work the City Information Desk at the Moscone Center, assisting business and convention travelers with recommendations for after work activities. 
  • Work efficiently to assist visitors while maintaining an excellent standard of service
  • Assist in necessary duties to present the best possible experience for visitors, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. (example: restocking brochures, organizing displays, greeting and crowd control, etc)
  • Constantly building your knowledge and expertise of the San Francisco experience, completing all provided training and activities to familiarize yourself with the services offered by partners of San Francisco Travel (example: attending attraction tours and open houses, going on half day excursions to popular destinations, keeping up to date on city news and events)
