Hilton San Francisco Union Square, the largest hotel in the Bay Area, announces the completion of its $25 million renovation project featuring upgraded accommodations, meeting spaces, culinary outlets and common areas. Most recently, the property finalized a $6 million transformation of its 30,000-square-foot lobby. The latest enhancements include a bright overhaul of its Lobby Bar and culinary marketplace, Herb N' Kitchen, boasting design inspired by San Francisco's eclectic characteristics.

Known for innovation, San Francisco seamlessly blends creative thinking and tradition. The hotel's new look is high on style with a personality that resembles the city's detailed steel structures, famed San Francisco bridges and turn-of-the-century design. Focusing on inviting, sleek and contemporary design, the lobby's customized energy-efficient light fixture, steel incorporations and accent wall behind the front desk, reflect its unique history and culture.

With refined décor catering to the millennial traveler, the new Lobby Bar is a buzzing gathering place with an unmistakable energy. Reflecting the city's unique characteristics by way of signature cocktails, grandiose seating and an engaging atmosphere, the bar acts as the town square of the hotel and central meeting place for business and leisure travelers alike.

Herb N' Kitchen, the grab-and-go marketplace steps from the lobby, features fresh, seasonal fare using locally sourced ingredients. Catering to today's on-the-go traveler, Herb N' Kitchen offers three set meals, a full-service coffee bar and option for in-room delivery. The addition of a fast-casual dining option and laid-back lounge area provides guests with an approachable, artisanal experience.

"We wanted to provide our city and travelers with a quintessential hotel experience. The newly exposed renovations provide our guests with a unique relaxed approach to the design with innovative flourishes including multiple power outlets, lounge opportunities for networking and remote working with abundant workspaces," said Steve Cowan, general manager, Hilton San Francisco Union Square.

San Francisco’s iconic Westin St. Francis, has completed an extensive renovation of 50,000 square feet of meeting and special event space in both the Landmark and Tower buildings.  Thirty rooms were renovated including: the Grand Ballroom; the Colonial Room appointed with classic Italian murals, elaborate candelabras, and gold-leafed columns separating regal opera balconies; the elaborate Italian Room; the Borgia Room with its jewel-like ceiling that was originally the hotel chapel; and the sophisticated St. Francis Suite, the former home of the Pope Family for many years.

Designed by Whitespace Interiors, the meeting rooms and event space reflect a “new classic” aesthetic that is fresh and modern while paying tribute to the historic qualities of the hotel. Edwardian and Art Deco-era patterns and motifs found within the architecture of the spaces helped establish the spirit of the new design.

The Westin St. Francis, which originally opened on March 21, 1904, offers 1,195 guestrooms, including 41 suites. The hotel consists of two buildings, providing guests with a choice of staying in the historic Landmark Building or the contemporary Tower, which completed a $20 million renovation in 2014.

The 489-room Oakland Marriott City Center has completed its interior renovations as a part of its $17 million reinvention. Changes include extensive upgrades to the lobby, ballrooms, guestrooms, meeting and event space, Skyline Room, and the new Great Room which includes the Level Two restaurant and Twelve Bar lounge. "All That Jazz" is the underlying theme of the hotel redesign, incorporating Oakland's strong connection to jazz history. The intention for the design was to include sophisticated yet contemporary pieces, using bright and warm colors to accent natural elements such as wood, glass and metal.
