Luna Park San Francisco
Restaurant Review

SFTravel's Top Restaurant for 2003
Luna Park is the Mission District's top restaurant by combining
excellent quality food, innovative recipes, an exciting ambience...
with reasonable prices. Unlike many similar restaurants serving
this type of American comfort food, Luna Park prices their menu for
real people. Luna Park is a great choice for the Mission
District and convenient to many drinking establishments after your
meal, or try the Luna Park busy bar. Our total tab for a full
dinner with drinks, salad, and dessert with tip was a total of ~$90.
For our meal, we stuck with fish. Sea Bass and Mahi Mahi were
both seasoned uniquely and with delicious vegetables. We tried a
watercress salad and potato (vegan) soup to begin the meal. For
dessert, we sampled a chocolate fondue with marshmallows (toasted of
course) for their "s'mores" dessert. The drink menu is extensive
with many cute drinks that include little plastic animals.
Ambience is very dark, and candle-lit for that romantic feel.
Parking is not recommended-- cabs are highly recommended to this area.
Parking is both difficult to find and not particularly safe for your
vehicle. The only negative we found of Luna Park
was the service. It was efficient and prompt... but rather
unfriendly. Our server was distant and seemed disinterested or
even annoyed in us. But with great food - excellent ambience - a
hopping location - and amazing prices, we recommend Luna Park highly.
