guys are RIGHT ON TARGET. This year, I stayed at the Chelsea
Motor Inn (loved the Lombard Inn last year, but this year I traveled
in a party of 3 women and they couldn't accommodate us at the Lombard.)
Based on your site, I reserved a room at the Chelsea. After
my first visit to SF last year, I fell in love with the City and
vow to make an annual trip there--and now, when I do, I will consider
the Chelsea
Motor Inn my home away from home.
They were friendly, courteous, and very accommodating to us as 3
VERY weary travelers upon our arrival. In trying to locate
an Italian deli I wanted to try, they not only told me how to get
there but offered a loaner on their wine opener for our planned
picnic at Alamo Square. When my party checked out for one
night to travel to Carmel for an
overnight stay, they graciously held our large bags in their storage
room until our return the next evening. Upon our return, we
we were put into the room we requested on the 3rd floor with a view
of the GG bridge. Without
our having asked, housekeeping had taken note of how we had arranged
our first room and had set up our new room identically. They
noted that we were 3 guests and had made sure to equip the room
with 3 sets of everything. When a delay of my trip occurred,
the Chelsea extended our stay. All of this and free parking.
It is comforting safe for women travelers; also, they are conveniently
located across the street from a 24-hour Kinko's--great for downloading
my digital camera and zipping pics back home."
"The
Chelsea Motor Inn on Lombard was a great place to stay. From the
start of the reservation process (complete with them sending me
a confirmation letter, with map and brochure) to the maid service
to check out, and all points in between, the employees there were
great and helpful.
Price was
good ($96+tax, king size bed, view of the GG Bridge.FREE parking),
location was ideal (Lombard may be noisy, but the windows are double
paned, so it muted the din considerably), and we had everything
we needed within walking distance, and then some. Great restaurants
(esp. Izzy's Steakhouse and Pizza Orgasmica, to name a couple),plenty
of shopping available on nearby Chestnut and Union
streets for that quick t-shirt need at the Gap, lovely walk
to the Marina Green and Palace of fine Arts, and even a Walgreens
for those just-in-case necessities.
We had
such great weather we found ourselves walking to the wharf
(I know, it was a touristy thing to do, but I wanted to go to Scoma's
restaurant again after many years away) We even got an earthquake
while we were there---but we are S. Californians so we rode it out
like a couple of pros:) I will recommend the Chelsea to anyone
heading up to SF, and will stay there again on my next trip. BTW,
Auto Club of CA gives it 3 diamonds."
