San Francisco Travel Strengthens Organization with New Appointments and Promotions

The organization continues its mission to promote the San Francisco region as a top global destination with a growing, talented team.

(San Francisco) Feb. 2, 2023 – San Francisco Travel Association, the official destination marketing organization for the City and County of San Francisco, announced recent promotions and appointments, strengthening its Convention Sales & Services, Marketing, Tourism Development, Public Policy and Finance divisions.

Dan Rosenbaum has been promoted to Vice President, Global Marketing. A twelve-year veteran of the marketing team, Dan has innovated the company’s digital marketing and forged new partnerships that have consistently expanded San Francisco Travel’s global reach and local impact. The recent reorganization of the marketing team has allowed Dan greater management opportunities. As Vice President, he will directly oversee the team’s efforts to drive additional private revenue, leisure room nights, and website economic impact. He will also oversee marketing support for the Tourism and Convention Sales & Services teams to help them achieve company-wide goals. Dan is a California native and a graduate of University of Colorado Boulder.

Kimberly Lee has been promoted to Senior Director, Convention Services & Events. Since returning to San Francisco Travel in April 2021 as Director, Convention Services & Events, Kimberly assumed additional responsibilities for convention events, site inspections and overall services for meetings and Moscone Center groups. Kimberly oversees a recently expanded Convention Services & Events department as part of her new remit. Her experience conducting successful site inspections and events, along with developing a volunteer program to welcome convention attendees to downtown San Francisco and the Moscone Center, has enabled her to move the department to a new level of service.  Kimberly has been with San Francisco Travel for over 18 years, beginning her career in convention sales before transitioning to convention services.

San Francisco Travel has expanded its convention sales team in the Midwest, appointing Kate Cannon as Senior Manager, Convention Sales – Midwest region. She is based in Chicago and is responsible for lead generation and managing self-contained accounts in the region. Before joining San Francisco Travel, Kate worked in sales for major hotel brands, including Hilton Worldwide Hyatt Hotels and Embassy Suites.  Most recently, she sold multi-properties for Hiltons of Chicago, representing Hilton Chicago, Palmer House Hilton, The Drake Hotel, and previously the Conrad Chicago. Kate attended college in Massachusetts at Framingham State University. A Chicago native, she lived in San Francisco from 2005 to 2007.

Oscar Lee, CMP, has rejoined San Francisco Travel as Senior Manager, Convention Services & Events as part of the department’s 2022 expansion. Oscar previously worked at San Francisco Travel from 2013 to 2020. In his new role, Oscar works with the self-contained sales team and provides destination services to groups, manages specific client events and connects groups to San Francisco Travel’s partners.  Oscar has been a part of the San Francisco hotel and hospitality industry for over 35 years and has held sales and marketing roles with Hyatt Hotels, Destination Hotels and Resorts (now Destination by Hyatt), and ANA Hotels (now IHG).

Zeke Ramsell has been promoted to Senior Manager, Convention Sales. He consistently exceeded goals in his previous role as Manager, Convention Sales. In his new position, Zeke will focus on further expanding the association’s customer base and network and on closing new and repeat business. Over the past two years, Zeke has been recognized in the hospitality industry for his work. He won the Smart Meetings’ Rising Star Catalyst Award, was a part of Destinations International’s “30 under 30” Class of 2021 and most recently was awarded the Supplier of the Year at the BAMIES by PCMA NCC.

Laura Campi is joining San Francisco Travel on Feb. 27, 2023, as Senior Manager, Convention Sales. She will be based in San Francisco and handle self-contained accounts on the West Coast. Prior to joining the association, Laura worked at the Omni San Francisco as Senior Sales Manager, handling the accounting/financial, consulting, and insurance markets. Most recently, she was Senior Sales Executive at The Palace Hotel. Laura was named the 2020 MYSF Professional of the Year. A fifth generation San Franciscan, she grew up in Oakland and graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, with an emphasis in Conventions, Meetings & Event Management and a Minor in Business Administration.

Maddy Ryan has joined San Francisco Travel as Senior Manager, Global PR and Media Relations. In her role, Maddy is responsible for media relations and supporting the public relations function of the organization. Maddy has spent her career in public relations, working with brands across the travel, tech and lifestyle industries, including Celebrity Cruises, Cloud to Street, a leading flood mapping platform, and coding non-profit Kode with Klossy. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Environmental Studies from Stonehill College.

Melissa Amato-Bernier, CMP, has rejoined San Francisco Travel as Senior Manager, Global Events in the Partnership department. Melissa previously worked at San Francisco Travel from 2015 to 2020. In her new role, she will produce the San Francisco Travel Foundation’s educational conferences, the San Francisco Travel Annual Meeting, and a variety of networking events throughout the year. Melissa has been a part of San Francisco’s hospitality industry for almost 20 years, working in restaurants and hospitality. She is native to the Bay Area and holds an MBA in Food and Wine from the University of Bologna. 

Tim Tieu has been appointed Senior Manager, Global Tourism Development. He will play a key role in executing integrated marketing campaigns, elevating San Francisco Travel’s international office community, and handling travel communications. For the past eight years, Tim grew memberships and helped build successful community marketing programs from scratch at Asana, a work management software company based in San Francisco. A Bay Area native, Tim attended Cornell University, where he graduated with a degree in Hotel Administration.

Janice Lee was promoted to Senior Director, Finance & Administration. Her expanded leadership responsibilities include overseeing the San Francisco Tourism Improvement District Management Corporation’s fiscal management and administrative service and working with San Francisco Travel Board members. Janice has been with San Francisco Travel for over 15 years and worked in the association’s accounting department for more than 10 years.

Julia Rome has been appointed Director, Public Policy and Executive Office Programs.  In her role, Julia oversees the management, programming and engagement of San Francisco Travel’s Board of Directors and works closely with Board Councils and Committees, City representatives and industry partners and leaders. She has extensive experience working on board management, engagement and governance, as well as in community relations, coalition building and project management. Before joining San Francisco Travel, she was Manager of Trustee Affairs at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. In this role, she also coordinated with government affairs on events with elected officials and candidates.
