Everything You Need to Know About the 2017-18 Golden State Warriors
After a summer of celebration, your NBA Champion Golden State Warriors are back on the hardwood and in the hunt for their third title in four years. Here's everything you need to know to be a Warriors superfan this season.
All your favorite players are back again. Two-time NBA MVP Steph Curry will be leading the Warriors, alongside his Splash Brother, Klay Thompson. There's Draymond Green, reigning Defensive Player of the Year, and former Finals MVP Andre Iguodala, as well. And who can forget the reigning NBA Finals MVP, the biggest addition to the team last season, Kevin Durant?
Behind the Scenes
The Warriors' President and CEO is Rick Welts. You might not know it, but Welts has probably done more to shape the NBA you know and love than anyone. Did you know that it was Welts who came up with the idea for taking the one-night All-Star Game and turning it into the multi-event All-Star Weekend? Welts has also been a leading voice for diversity in the NBA, as the first openly gay executive in the league. He's been a terrific ambassador for San Francisco and has plenty of suggestions for what you should do when you visit.
In the Stands
Warriors pride courses through the entire Bay Area, with fans all the way from Vallejo to Palo Alto regularly packing into Oracle Arena. Wherever you go in San Francisco, you can find top-notch bars and restaurants where every game of the Warriors' next run for the championship will be shown. You can even toast Steph Curry's success with some curry-inspired dishes.
So let's get ready, fans! It's time to paint the city blue and gold and join the #DubNation.
