Event Information

Teams representing eight nations—the United States, Australia, France, Great Britain, Japan, Spain, New Zealand and Denmark—will race on identical 50-foot foiling catamarans, known as the F50. Driven by the sport's best athletes, the F50 is capable of speeds approaching 100 km/h, with a top speed of 98.3 km/h recorded so far this season.

Racing will take place in the heart of San Francisco Bay, with the Golden Gate Bridge serving as a stunning and dramatic backdrop. The official viewing area is once again located on the Marina Yacht Club Peninsula. Attracting 22,000 spectators in the first year, this ticketed area along the water’s edge will be the center of the festivities.

San Francisco will be the eighth and final stop on the Season 2 circuit. Leading up to San Francisco, events will take place in Bermude, Taranto (Italy), Plymouth (Great Britian), Aarhus (Denmark), Saint-Tropez (France), Cádiz (Spain), and Sydney (Australia).

The current Season 2 leaderboard features Japan, the United State, and Australia occupying the top three spots following the most recent event in Saint-Tropez.

During the league’s inaugural season in 2019, fans embraced the SailGP concept, as the championship’s five events garnered a television audience of 256 million. In addition, more than 133,000 spectators watched the live events, 138,000 downloaded the award-winning mobile app and more than 100,000 eF50s raced in the debut of the league’s first-generation gaming platform.

SailGP’s mission is to accelerate the transition to clean energy and be the most sustainable and purpose-driven sports and entertainment property.
