Visit SFMOMA With the San Francisco CityPASS Program

Great news for visiting fans of art and culture. The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) is part of the San Francisco CityPASS program, allowing guests using the attraction pass to take advantage of savings of 45% on adult admission to multiple key attractions.

Recently expanded and designed by Craig Dykers of the Norwegian-American architecture firm Snøhetta, SFMOMA is home to all things modern art in San Francisco. The new SFMOMA is a one-of-a-kind museum, complete with more than seven floors of gallery space, six art-filled terraces, a sculptural staircase, and 45,000 square feet of free, public space, making it the largest museum in Northern California. SFMOMA has quickly become a vital cultural and social center in the Yerba Buena neighborhood, near the hot spots of Union Square and The Moscone Center.

Visitors can experience art from a permanent collection that includes 32,000 modern and contemporary work by Alexander Calder, Frida Kahlo, Jackson Pollock, Gerhard Richter, Richard Serra, and many others, and an entire floor dedicated to photography. Take a break at The Living Wall, featuring several different plant species, guaranteeing no visit will be the same.

SFMOMA also features a world-class schedule of temporary special exhibitions, which have included works by Walker Evans, Robert Rauschenberg, Henri Matisse, Edvard Munch, and others. There are also regular live performances.

To best experience the museum, take a 45-minute tour of the museum free with admission, and/or download the SFMOMA app to explore the spaces on your own. The audio, in combination with the indoor tracking and positioning technology, tells visitors about every piece of art they come across in the museum. With a variety of renowned hosts, visitors can also take an immersive narrative journey through the museum.

While at SFMOMA, also take advantage of innovative dining options, from local coffee at Sightglass to California fusion with a view at Cafe 5 to re-imagined fine dining with dishes that are works of art unto themselves at the acclaimed In Situ.
