Founded in 2006, The Cheese School of San Francisco is the only independent institution of its kind in the nation. A woman-owned small business, The Cheese School is dedicated to telling the story of cheese and other heritage foods with the philosophy of "eating is learning." Through interactive culinary experiences, The Cheese School educates eaters about food traditions and the people that continue to practice them through a cornucopia of classes and tasting events, both structured and informal.
In 2018, The Cheese School moved into San Francisco's historic Ghirardelli Square to share the fully realized vision of the school where eaters can learn about cheese in a welcoming, accessible, and fun environment. The Cheese School resides in what was once the two-story home of Ghirardelli Square's groundskeeper. The new location boasts gorgeous views of the San Francisco Bay, including Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge. Just one block away from the Hyde & Beach Street Cable Car Station, it's easily accessible to all San Francisco visitors.
