Wine Country Trekking provides luxury inn-to-inn walking vacations from San Francisco to the California Wine Country. Our self-guided treks are complete vacation packages that bring together fabulous hiking, lodging, food, and wine, allowing you to “Experience Luxury on Foot”. They are based in the San Francisco Bay Area, which includes the Wine Country of Napa and Sonoma. Premiere lodging, breakfasts and lunches, wine tasting, special excursions, and logistics are included in your trek. Uniquely designed in the European style of hiking village to village, most of the treks are accomplished on foot with very few transfers necessary.
The treks are self-guided, meaning that you travel with your own family or friends, not with a tour of strangers. We provide you with a complete itinerary, including custom maps and detailed trail notes, and arrange all meals and lodging for you. You have the confidence of knowing that everything is taken care of and the freedom to manage your own time. Our in-depth local knowledge makes our maps and trail notes invaluable assets on your trek. The trails accommodate all levels of hikers.
We arrange luggage transport between inns and provide a packed lunch for the trail. This allows you to enjoy your hike each day with just a simple day pack.
Lodging on your trek ranges from luxury boutique hotels in the cities to charming country inns with all the amenities one would expect of premier lodging.
San Francisco is best understood through the diversity of its neighborhoods; from traditional Chinatown to Italian-influenced North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf, the LGBT+ stronghold of The Castro, and the Latin community of The Mission. You can explore all of this at a time and pace that suits you with our flexible tour pass. Just grab a tour departure schedule, choose one of our eight regularly-departing tours, and Walk On. Each tour is between 60 and 90 minutes long.
There is too much diversity in San Francisco to see the whole city with just one or two tours: That's why we created the Walk On Walk Off Tour Pass, so you can soak up the distinct atmosphere and culture of each neighborhood, at a time and pace that suits you. The Tour Pass gives you seven days to explore the city, with unlimited access to eight expert-led neighborhood walks, which depart at least every second day (although most run daily), so you can choose the time that best suits your schedule.
Our staff gets together all of the time outside of the office, so we understand the importance of building something bigger beyond the daily grind.
Let our team plan the perfect day for your corporate retreat, whether it’s 5 people or 500. With customized pick-up and drop-off, local guides, and a beautiful city to explore, we’re confident that we can show your staff a great day out and about on our minibuses, electric bicycles, or e-tuk tuks.
