The Global Marketing Communications team at San Francisco Travel works across multiple forms of media to spread the word about all the wonderful sights, flavors, and experiences that San Francisco and the Bay Area offer. Here's how to work with them to reach new and valuable audiences.

What is Marketing Communications?

The marketing communications team manages content development for our website and publications, our social media channels, and cooperative relationships with key content partners. There are a few ways that you, as a San Francisco Travel member, can take advantage of these many opportunities.

Websites

San Francisco Travel's website features original content, valuable resources, and multiple tools that allow visitors to book different aspects of their San Francisco experience without needing to navigate to other sites.

Marketing Communications produces and updates hundreds of articles about San Francisco for our audiences, both consumer and industry. Take a look at the various key landing pages of our site, from Dining and Hotels to Arts & Culture and Meeting Planners and many more. As you familiarize yourself with our content, consider where your business might fit in. While we do not guarantee our members specific content inclusions, if you feel there is a place on our site that makes sense for your business's inclusion, let us know.

Keep in mind that greater content exposure on our website may be available as part of a larger sponsorship with San Francisco Travel. Contact us for more information.

Publications and Newsletters

Each year, San Francisco Travel produces guides targeted to the visitormeeting planner, and travel trade audiences. These guides are printed, available online, and distributed through key channels. Members at the Convention and All Access levels are automatically included in the Meeting Planner and Travel Planner guides' directories. These are frequently used industry resources and a great way to distill a lot of information about your business into a small amount of space. As with your member listing on our website, we take that information directly from what you provide in the Member Portal. (Another reason to keep your information current!)

San Francisco Travel also produces a number of email newsletters, targeted to both leisure and B2B audiences. Our general leisure newsletter, distributed to subscribers all over the world, is published weekly. You can sign up for any of our leisure newsletters here.

Active members receive our weekly Cablegram newsletter, which contains important membership notices, announcements, industry news, and event notifications. Additionally, you may receive special announcements on our key member events and special program opportunities and updates. If you are not receiving these emails, check your spam folder or let us know.

Social Media

Social media is where more and more people are finding their information and inspiration. At San Francisco Travel, we speak to different audiences across multiple social media platforms. Our primary audience is our leisure market, whom we reach globally across FacebookTwitterInstagram and other niche and market-specific applications, including WeChat, Weibo, and TikTok. We also have Facebook and Twitter accounts dedicated to member communications. These channels are great ways to learn about upcoming events and exclusive opportunities. We also have FacebookTwitter, and Instagram accounts dedicated to our meeting planner audience.

For opportunities to be part of the compelling visual content created for these channels, contact our Partnership team.

Advertising

There are opportunities for members to advertise on our website (i.e. banner ads) and in our publications (i.e. print and banner ads).

Cooperative Relationships

San Francisco Travel enjoys consistent and successful relationships with a number of third party online booking engines and other vendors. Take a look:

Booking.com

San Francisco Travel's partnership with Booking.com allows our hotel members to receive bookings direct from our website. Make sure your hotel business is listed with Booking.com to participate.

Tiqets

San Francisco Travel partners with Tiqets to serve as our attraction and tour ticketing engine. Make sure your business is listed with Tiqets to participate.

SpinGo

SpinGo is a valued event calendaring service. On our Events page, click on the event calendar to add your own public events to the listing.

Additional Opportunities

San Francisco Travel often collaborates with other media partners on special giveaways and sweepstakes. These partners include other publications, radio stations, and more. Our team will solicit members for their participation in building prize packages. These are great voluntary opportunities to gain additional exposure for your business and to increase your participation with our marketing communications team. Keep an eye out for bulletin requests to participate.
