Whether you're a longstanding member or new to the family, here are ten simple steps to help maximize your membership.

As a San Francisco Travel member, we want you to take advantage of all the benefits available. Whether you're a longstanding member or new to the family, here are nine simple steps to help maximize your membership.

1. Add us to your email list

Email is our primary way of communicating with you, and we want to ensure you don't miss a beat. Add our @sftravel.com domain to your list of safe senders so we don't end up in your spam (we get very lonely there).

2. Attend Member Orientation (and again)

Member Orientation isn't just a great way to get acquainted with who we are and what we do. It's also an opportunity to keep up-to-date on new developments and initiatives that we're working on. Bring your team, send your new hires, and reacquaint yourself often by attending one of these convenient monthly sessions.

3. Present at Member Showcase

We spend a lot of time telling you what we do; here's your chance to turn the tables. You'll have the undivided attention of our Conventions, Tourism, Marketing and Membership teams to present what your business does and who your target market is. Member Showcase fills up quickly, so register early to save your spot.

4. Present at Our Visitor Information Center

Here's your chance to give our visitor center staff and volunteers an overview of your product(s) or service(s), explain new features, or answer clarification questions. You'll have our undivided attention to present what your business does. Presentations dates fill up quickly, so schedule a time slot early to reserve your spot.

5. Keep your listing fresh

Have seasonal hours? Taken some new photos? Added a new menu item? Your web listing is a living document, and the more relevant you keep it, the more helpful it will be to visitors. We've made it easy to do. Just log in to our Member Portal, click on "Manage My Account," update your copy, upload photos and review your business details. Changes are usually live on the website within one business day and can be made as often as you'd like. Our website is highly optimized and attracts more than 6 million users annually. Don't you want to look your best?

6. Read the Cablegram

Each week, we deliver our most pertinent member and industry news straight to your inbox. It's packed with marketing opportunities, upcoming event details, company news and much more.

7. Attend our networking events

We believe being truly inspired helps establish stronger connections. We host our quarterly Business Exchanges in unique San Francisco locations. And everyone who attends is just like you: looking to make connections with local, like-minded businesses.

8. Follow us on Facebook

Since we know you're on social media (right?), follow our industry Facebook and Twitter pages for news and updates. It's also where we post our event photos, including the ones that your boss took in the photo booth when nobody was looking.

9. Give us your feedback

Happy with something we're doing? Eager to see us make improvements to a program or system? Let us know. Seriously, we get giddy when a member reaches out to give us feedback, regardless if it's positive or negative. It makes us better, so we welcome all comments.

10. Review your benefits

You're paying for them, so take advantage of every benefit you signed up for! Check what's included in your package often, and share with your team to make sure you're marking off every opportunity that's available to you.
