June 28, 2010 — Janice Wong-Perez has joined the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau (SFCVB) as convention services manager. Wong-Perez oversees services for large self-contained meetings (groups not using Moscone Center but blocking 500+ peak rooms) and reports to Kathryn Horton, senior director, convention events and services for the SFCVB.

For the past 10 years Wong-Perez has worked for the Hilton Corporation, mostly recently as an event and sales manager at the Hilton Grand Vacations Company in Las Vegas where she managed as many as eight in-house groups at a time. She has also worked at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square.

“Janice came highly recommend by colleagues and customers in both San Francisco and Las Vegas,” said Horton. “She has great management experience in the hotel industry which will be invaluable to the customers we assist.”

The addition of Wong-Perez will help the SFCVB support a broader range of customers with site inspections, attendance-building programs, and other services.

“Many self-contained meetings in San Francisco are large enough to be multi-hotel convention center meetings in other cities,” said Leonard Hoops, executive vice president and chief customer officer for the SFCVB. “We wanted those groups to have the same level of attention as our Moscone Center customers.”

Wong-Perez is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. She is proficient in Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese languages.
