Karen Bell returns to the SFCVB as managing director, development

Karen Bell has been named the new managing director, development, for the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau (SFCVB). In her new position, Bell will create and implement a development/partnership plan that provides a mutually beneficial relationship between businesses in the visitor industry and the SFCVB, which is the City's official visitor promotion agency.

Karen Bell has been named the new managing director, development, for the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau (SFCVB). In her new position, Bell will create and implement a development/partnership plan that provides a mutually beneficial relationship between businesses in the visitor industry and the SFCVB, which is the City's official visitor promotion agency. She will also oversee the Bureau's member services and programs, and visitor services.

“Karen’s experience working with the Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District, and her previous experience at the SFCVB makes her the perfect choice for this position” said Dan Goldes, executive vice president and chief stakeholder officer for the SFCVB. “She understands the need for businesses and the Bureau to work together, especially in these uncertain economic times.”

Bell’s experience includes working as the first executive director for the Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District (FWCBD) managing all marketing aspects promoting Fisherman’s Wharf, working with the City of San Francisco government to initiate the redevelopment of Jefferson St., seeking opportunities to secure grants to aid in the funding of the FWCBD and other projects. She was also director of marketing programs and promotions for the SFCVB, and executive director of partnerships and marketing for Dollar Rent A Car Systems. Bell holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in business administration from California State University, Long Beach.
