San Francisco Travel's First Dedicated Mexico Sales Mission A Success

In early 2019, San Francisco Travel held its first dedicated sales mission to Mexico. Traveling across the country with partners and influencers, our team made a big impression in a market that continues to be of tremendous value to San Francisco.

Our San Francisco Travel team visited Mexico City and Guadalajara with six partners, including Sonoma County Tourism, North Lake Tahoe, and Nobel House Hotels. In Mexico City, we hosted an event with Chef Gabriella Cámara, the brilliant mind behind San Francisco's Cala. The gathering, attended by media and industry professionals, featured a live cooking demo in Chef Cámara's event space, next to her famous Mexico City restaurant, Contramar. 

In Guadalajara, more than 100 travel agents and tour operators attended our educational event. The city is now a focal point of our Mexican market strategy, as it can now offer travelers additional non-stop flights to San Francisco International Airport aboard Interjet. 

This dedicated mission was important because Mexico continues to be our top international market when it comes to total visitation. Visitor volume from Mexico is forecasted to exceed 661,000 in 2019, and the corresponding visitor spend is expected to be greater than $278 million. Our goals are to increase visitor spending, length of stay, and market share with Mexican travelers.
