October 15, 2014 – As the exciting battle for the National League Pennant continues with the San Francisco Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals, both cities’ tourism leaders have stepped into the fray. Joe D’Alessandro, president of San Francisco Travel and Kitty Ratcliffe, president of the St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission, have entered into a friendly wager over the outcome of the National League Championship Series. The tourism chief from the losing team’s city must wear and be photographed in gear from the opposing team. The pictures will be shared with tourism trade media and posted on the organizations’ social media outlets.
“After our 49ers beat the Rams on Monday, we’re looking forward to total sports domination over St. Louis,” D’Alessandro said. “We are thrilled that our team continues along the path to this ultimate competition and look forward to many exciting games to come.”
“It’s been a great series thus far and we are confident the Cardinals will bring home their 20th National League Pennant,” said Ratcliffe. “I can’t wait to see Joe decked out in a Cardinals’ jersey and cap as Cardinals’ Nation celebrates yet another trip to the World Series.”
