San Francisco (Oct. 30, 2023) – Today, the San Francisco Travel Association presented the 2023 Crystal Bridge award to NeighborWorks America at the organization’s annual sales mission in Washington, D.C.
Inaugurated in 2010 as part of San Francisco Travel’s centennial celebration, the Crystal Bridge award is presented each year to honor influential customers that bring outstanding events and generate significant impact to San Francico.
NeighborWorks America, a nonprofit that creates opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, held three meetings at the Hilton Union Square in San Francisco within a 10-month period. As part of the organization’s NeighborWorks Training Institute (NTI), these meetings engaged with their network and the local San Francisco community, sharing tools and training to empower participants to provide their communities with affordable housing, financial counseling, and training in the areas of health, employment and education. Beyond the community impact, NeighborWorks’ presence in San Francisco added more than $4.7 million to the city’s economy.
“San Francisco’s impressive record of community development makes it an ideal host city for NeighborWorks America’s events that bring together thousands of industry professionals from across the country to network, learn from each other and learn about cutting-edge approaches to affordable housing and building strong communities,” said NeighborWorks America’s President & CEO Marietta Rodriguez. “We are honored to be recognized with the San Francisco Travel Association’s Crystal Bridge Award and we remain committed to helping create economic impact for San Francisco and all communities across the country.”
NeighborWorks is the first self-contained group to receive the award. Previous award winners include J.P. Morgan, Cardiovascular Research Foundation, Salesforce.com, and Oracle.
“NeighborWorks America has not only been an incredible partner to San Francisco’s meeting and hospitality industry, but the trainings and expertise offered during their meetings have been a valuable resource to our community,” said Joe D'Alessandro, President and CEO of San Francisco Travel. “We are thrilled to present this standout organization with the Crystal Bridge award and look forward to welcoming them back to San Francisco in 2024.”
