Responsible for European and South American markets
Hubertus Funke has joined the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau as Tourism Sales Manager, effective June 7, 2007.In his new position, Funke will be responsible for the European and South American markets. He joins the Bureau with more than 14 years of experience in the international tourism industry, having worked with the largest inbound receptives, AlliedTPro and New World Travel, both in New York City and San Francisco. He also carries experience from Kuoni Travel in New York and TUI in Germany. Funke, who is a native German, is multilingual, fluent in written and verbal German and English, while proficient in French and Spanish.
“We are excited to have the talent and experience that Hubertus will bring to our tourism team, complementing our efforts to bring travelers to San Francisco,” said Deborah Reinow, vice president of tourism for San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau. The San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau is a private, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to market the City as a leisure, convention and business travel destination. With more than 1,800 members, the SFCVB is one of the largest membership-based tourism promotion agencies in the country. Tourism, San Francisco’s largest industry, generates in excess of $7.76 billion annually for the local economy.
