What is Tourism Gives Back?
Successfully promoting San Francisco as a destination means doing our part to enhance the city's communities for everyone. Tourism Gives Back is an industry-led volunteer program, allowing San Francisco Travel staff and partners to learn about and act on the issues affecting the visitor experience.
Past San Francisco Travel volunteer events have supported Project Homeless Connect, Hamilton Families, the Recreation and Parks Department, and others.
Upcoming events include:
- Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, 9:00 a.m.-1:35 p.m.: Serve a meal with St. Anthony's
St. Anthony’s mission is to feed, heal, shelter, clothe, lift the spirits of those in need, and create a society in which all persons flourish. At this event, volunteers will learn about food insecurity in our community, as well as serve meals to those in need.
- Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, 8:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.: Lend a hand at the Lava Mae Pop-Up Care Village
Lava Mae began in 2013 with public buses repurposed to provide mobile showers and has expanded to include monthly one-stop Pop-Up Care Villages to dramatically expand access to essential services for people living on the streets. Join us to lend a hand to support the care village with activities including, serving lunch, helping at the community hygiene bank, or checking in participants. Multi-lingual volunteers are always needed.
