If you thought San Francisco Travel’s connections to spectacular meeting venues were confined to city limits, think again. Throughout the Bay Area and its surrounding regions, we work with a number of large event spaces that offer all the charm, amenities and state-of-the-art tech you’d expect in San Francisco. These venues outside the city proper have easy transportation access and plenty of room to spread out, even for the biggest conferences and conventions. Here’s a look at some of our favorite large venues beyond city limits.

Cow Palace Arena & Event Center (2600 Geneva Avenue, Daly City)

You won’t have to travel far to find the Cow Palace, which sits on San Francisco’s border with Daly City. This famous (and memorably named) indoor arena has hosted the Golden State Warriors, countless rodeos, the Democratic National Convention and even The Beatles on their first U.S. tour in 1964. Today, the Cow Palace offers ample parking and multiple buildings comprising 250,000 square feet of flexible event space.

Monterey Conference Center (One Portola Plaza, Monterey)

Give high-powered events a dash of breezy Pacific charm at this spectacular waterfront venue. Together, the Monterey Conference Center, Monterey Marriott and Portola Hotel & Spa form the Monterey Conference Connection, totaling 85,000 square feet of meeting space, more than 19,000 square feet of exhibition space and 700 hotel rooms – all a stone’s throw from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, historic Cannery Row and lively Fisherman’s Wharf.

Levi’s 49ers Stadium (4900 Marie P. DeBartolo Way, Santa Clara)

Score major points with attendees by hosting your next event at this cutting-edge NFL stadium. Opened in 2014, Levi’s 49ers Stadium includes 17 distinctive meeting spaces, including open-air terraces, an auditorium, and the United Club, a 25,000-square-foot suite that directly overlooks the field. Not close enough to the action? Transform the field itself into an unforgettable event with space for 10,000. Talk about a competitive edge!

Oakland Marriott City Center (1001 Broadway, Oakland)

Whether booked as an ancillary meeting space to the adjacent Oakland Convention Center or reserved as a standalone venue, the Oakland Marriott City Center makes a welcoming home base for attendees. Renovated in 2016, the hotel offers 90,000 square feet of meeting space across 36 rooms, plus full A/V capabilities, 500 modern guest rooms and convenient BART connectivity. Just beyond the lobby, the charms of Chinatown and Jack London Square await.

USS Hornet Sea, Air & Space Museum (70 W. Hornet Avenue, Pier 3, Alameda)

Make your event one for the history books aboard the USS Hornet, a World War II-era aircraft carrier that also participated in the Apollo 11 space mission. Anchored just across the bay in Alameda, the ship offers sweeping San Francisco skyline views, complimentary parking for 500, and several one-of-a-kind event spaces, plus add-ons like fireworks displays and flight simulations. Whether it’s a concert for 3,000 on the Flight Deck or a seated dinner in a Hangar Bay, meeting planners truly have the run of the ship on this American treasure.
