View_from_Sq2_lg.jpg

Conveniently located in downtown San Francisco, The Contemporary Jewish Museum’s (The CJM) dynamic facility designed by renowned architect Daniel Libeskind offers beautiful spaces for all types of special events. Perfect for cocktail parties, seated dinners, wedding receptions, bar/bat mitzvah celebrations, lectures, film screenings, and meetings. The CJM’s close proximity to Moscone Center makes it a great location for convention related events.

Libeskind’s building design combines the historical 1907 Jessie Street Power Substation with contemporary architecture. Opened to the public in June 2008, the 63,000 square foot facility marries many of the character defining features of the original substation with bold new spaces. The building, with its integration of architectural styles, emanates a powerful connection between tradition and innovation which reflects The Museum’s mission to make the diversity of the Jewish experience relevant for a twenty-first century audience.
