Celebrate the Holidays with Macy's Union Square
The 29th Annual Macy’s Great Tree Lighting Ceremony takes places on Nov. 23, 2018 at 6 p.m. in the heart of Union Square. The holidays kick off when the 83-foot tree is lit with more than 33,000 twinkling lights and 1,100 shining ornaments. Enjoy performances by American Conservatory Theater’s renowned Young Conservatory, the Grammy award-winning San Francisco Boys Chorus, Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, the cast of San Francisco Playhouse’s Mary Poppins, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and music legend Darlene Love, plus a visit from the one and only Santa!
Have Santa hear your holiday wishes and take a picture with the man himself. This magical holiday wonderland, open through Monday, Dec. 24, is designed to delight children of all ages.
Believe Campaign & Letter to Santa
Write or email your letter to Santa and help make wishes come true. Macy's will count all the letters received nationwide and donate $1 for each letter to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to $1,000,000.
Macy's has been renowned for its stunning holiday window displays since the 1870s. In fact, the department store was the first store to feature holiday windows created for the pure fun and joy of the season. The brand's tradition continues today at the San Francisco store. Be sure to stop by this season through Tuesday, Jan. 1. as Macy's partners with the San Francisco SPCA to bring adorable - and adoptable - cats and dogs to Union Square. Find out more about this special partnership and extended activities here.
