Holidays at the Exploratorium with After Dark's Glow

Visit the Exploratorium to excite your atoms at Glow, the annual festival of ebullient lights and subtle glows, from Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018 through Sunday, January 6, 2019. Bask in the mesmerizing gleams of interactive installations and kinetic sculptures, take a shine to illuminating exhibits, and enjoy special activities.

Glow: Festival of Lights installations include Cubatron Core, a 26-foot wide and 18-foot high torus-shaped sculpture, and the glowing, watercolored-hued stainless steel cocoon, Enunciation. Don't miss InfiniCube, a transparent box with an infinite expanse of light, and the Noble Gas Chandeliers installation, and view the luminous properties of various gases encased within the glass structures. Outside on Pier 15, Buckyball welcomes visitors with 4,500 LED nodes on a towering 25-foot sculpture.

After Dark

Glow debuts as part of the Exploratorium's After Dark Thursday Night series on Thursday, Dec. 6 from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. Doors are kept open past regular closing time for adults only, and visitors can enjoy a fascinating array of unique programs and events while sipping cocktails and experiencing the museum's 650-plus hands-on exhibits on perception, art, and science. Lose yourself in mind-bending experiences, and unique, thought-provoking programs.

Always popular—and available during all After Dark Thursday Nights—is the museum's Tactile Dome, where visitors can crawl, slide and bump their way through the pitch-dark Dome using only the sense of touch as a guide through its chambers and mazes.

Visit After Dark: Glow for more information. Tickets may be purchased on-site or online at exploratorium.edu. An additional charge applies to the Tactile Dome. Admission is limited to adults 18 and older.

Note: Some programs have limited capacity and will be made available to visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.
