The Basics

When

  • June 10: Aquathlon
  • June 11: Triathlon Race
  • June 10-11: Alcatraz Fitness Festival & Expo

Where to Watch

  • Marina Green - You can reach this beautiful, flat stretch of San Francisco's waterfront by taking the 22, 30, or 45 Muni buses. Street closures will be in effect for the event, so you may have to disembark a few stops early. Not to worry; that just means you'll get to enjoy a stroll through the Marina neighborhood!

Who Competes

  • 2,000 lottery-selected athletes from Olympians and challenged athletes to world champions and ardent age groupers.

About the Courses

The Aquathlon is a 750-kilometer swim in San Francisco Bay and 5-kilometer run that finishes on Marina Green on Saturday, June 10.

On Sunday, June 11, triathletes will take on a challenging feat by engaging in a demanding 1.5-mile swim from Alcatraz Island to the Marina Green shoreline. They will then face an 18-mile bike ride through the twisting roads of the Presidio, followed by an 8-mile trail run that leads to and from Baker Beach, where the notorious Sand Ladder with more than 200 steps awaits them.
