In San Francisco, the food experiences run the gamut from A to Z (for us, that's artichokes to Zinfandel). Here’s a calendar of some of the city's top food and beverage festivals. We’ve also included a few from beyond the bridge, as well.

What better way to kick off the year than by dining at some of the city's top restaurants? With special lunch and dinner menus at over 100 San Francisco restaurants, you'll have to choose your destinations carefully (though there are no bad options). These are the best areas to stay for foodies.

The Zinfandel Experience (ZAP)
The Presidio and Four Seasons Hotel (757 Market St.)
Zinfandel, often called America’s heritage wine, is the draw here. Savor the flavors of this authentically American varietal and experience its distinctly classic personality at several extraordinary events. Local craft beer legacy and culture is celebrated with as many as 150 events, including beer dinners, cheese and beer pairing events, meet the brewer evenings, demonstrations, music and films, from San Francisco to Monterey to Sacramento and beyond.

San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition

Black Cuisine Festival

This culinary competition, which is part of a national tour, includes a feast that showcases the best bites, top chefs and who’s who of the good food movement.

San Francisco International Chocolate Salon

Those with a yen for chocolate can indulge in artisan, gourmet and premium chocolate from more than 50 chocolatiers and confectioners. Non-chocolate exhibitors and artisans will be on hand as well, including wineries participating in the San Francisco Invitational Wine Salon.


Cider Summit S.F.
Parade Ground at The Presidio of San Francisco
More than 175 cider offerings, ranging from regional favorites to international classics, mean that there's something for everyone at this annual event, which includes selections created just for the event.

San Francisco International Beer Festival

Sample more than 300 incredible beers from some of the best craft brewers in the world, as well as a variety of offerings from some of San Francisco’s best restaurants. Must be 21 or over to enter.


Taste of Potrero
The Midway
Now in its eighth year, this annual, one-night food festival supports the nearby Daniel Webster Elementary School. Over 50 San Francisco bars and restaurants are expected to participate.

Uncorked – The San Francisco Wine Festival
Ghirardelli Square
Enjoy tastings from a variety of Bay Area wineries and experience the ambience of San Francisco's waterfront with entertainment throughout Ghirardelli Square and along Beach Street.


Northern California Soy and Tofu Festival
St. Mary's Cathedral (Gough St. & Geary Blvd.)
Calling all vegetarians! This annual fundraiser, which supports the Nichi Bei Foundation, showcases all the ways soy and tofu can be used in cooking. Competitions, demonstrations, and live performances are all part of the event.

Outside Lands
Golden Gate Park
It's more than a music festival. Outside Lands regularly features some of San Francisco's top culinary talent, who serve up food and drink throughout the festival's three days of non-stop music.


Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival

Oktoberfest By The Bay

Sake Summit

Let the sake flow! Sake tasting events feature a variety of major sake brands from Japan, as well as key players in the sake business in the Bay Area, from distilleries, distributors to retailers.

A Taste of Greece
Annunciation Cathedral (245 Valencia St.)
For over 60 years, Annunciation Cathedral has hosted San Francisco' largest Greek food festival. This three-day event gives you plenty of opportunity to sample spanakopita, gyros, and more.


SF Street Food Festival
Potrero Power Station (420 23rd St.)
This annual event chooses a different focus each year. For 2018, over 30 Bay Area chefs and restaurants will salute American cuisine and how it has been shaped by immigrant cultures from all over the world.

Union Street Harvest Wine Walk
Along Union Street from Gough to Steiner Streets, and along Fillmore St. from Union to Lombard Streets
Restaurants and merchants along Union Street offer hors d’oeuvres and wine samples to attendees. Those who wish to sample may purchase a tasting wristband prior to the event and receive a wine glass and map with all tasting locations.

Napa Valley Truffle Festival

A commemoration of all things artichoke, this event has cooking demos, tours of artichoke farms, artichoke-themed art and even an artichoke parade.


Gilroy Garlic Festival
Christmas Hill Park, Gilroy, CA
Billed as the “world’s ultimate summer food fair,” the Gilroy Garlic Festival features three full days of great garlicky food, live entertainment, cooking competitions, arts and crafts, and fun for all ages. Highlights include garlic soft-serve ice cream and Gourmet Alley, with its gigantic outdoor kitchen and “Pyro Chefs.”

Taste Our Terroir

Cochon Heritage Fire
Charles Krug Winery, Napa, CA

Harvest Table

Sonoma Wine Country Weekend
