San Francisco Food Trucks and Carts You Can't Miss on Your Next Trip

Food trucks in San Francisco are a low-key, casual way to try some of the best food in the city.

San Francisco is a melting pot of culinary culture. You could just as easily score some of the best French fries in the country as you could some of the most authentic Burmese cuisine. The food truck scene offers that same variety, with accessible options in multiple neighborhoods. Check out some of the most popular street food in the City by the Bay.

Aunt Vicky's

Aunt Vicky's may be one of the newbies on the food truck scene, but Victoria Barabin has carved out a little slice of fame for herself since she opened. She serves up Hawaiian comfort food, including succulent fried chicken, creamy and crunchy mac salad, and saucy pulled pork sliders on sweet Hawaiian rolls.

The Chairman

If you're looking for authentic Asian street food, you don't have to stick to Chinatown or Japantown. Simply go wherever The Chairman sends its striking red and white food truck. The steamed and baked buns they prepare are always fast, fresh, and delicious!

Chomp Station

Street food gets its rep for being fast, portable, and stick-to-your-ribs heavy. Luckily, Chomp Station has a few "lighter" options—if by light, you mean steak. Try the tri-tater tots: crispy tots drizzled with white sauce, sprinkled with parsley and served with a side of tri-tip steak. Hop a ride on the K/T Muni train and exit at Mission Rock for a taste.

The Codmother

Fish and chips is a perfectly portable dish, so it makes sense that there's a food truck devoted to it. Visit The Codmother at Fisherman's Wharf, where fish tacos and a variety of chip styles are also on the menu.

Curry Up Now

San Francisco's first Indian food truck debuted in 2009 and became so popular it eventually spawned a brick-and-mortar restaurant. We're still suckers for enjoying their delicious dishes on the street, particularly the pani puri and incredible tikka masala burrito.

Lobsta Truck

We're a long way from Nantucket, but that doesn't mean delicious lobster rolls are out of reach. Thanks to the traveling Lobsta Truck, you can enjoy New England's most succulent crustaceans here in San Francisco. Whether on a roll or in a soup, their lobster is worth the wait.

Roli Roti

You won't find the popular Indian flatbread at this establishment. Instead, you'll find some of the most tender rotisserie meats you've ever tasted. One of the fan favorites is the rotisserie porchetta: free-range pork loin that's been seasoned and rotisserie grilled for four hours. It's crispy on the outside and so tender on the inside that it practically falls apart. Take BART or the Muni street cars to reach the Embarcadero

Señor Sisig

Serving up a mouth-watering fusion of Mexican and Filipino cuisine, Señor Sisig's truck is always a major draw wherever it parks. This is a food truck that dares you to go big, like with its California Sisig Burrito, which is packed with your choice of meat or tofu, shredded cheese, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, and french fries!

Bonito Poke

Often found in SoMa, just steps from the Salesforce Tower, Bonito Poke offers downtown diners a variety of creative poke bowls. Stick to the traditional ingredients or sample one of their more fusion-based lunches. The Fiesta Poke bowl includes mangoes and jicama, while the Cali Poke bowl features avocado and crab salad.
