Professional Squash Returns to San Francisco with the Oracle NetSuite Open 2021
World class professional sport returns to the San Francisco Bay Area with the 9th Annual Oracle NetSuite Open Squash Championship on the San Francisco Bay waterfront. Offering five days of premier international competition, Sept. 23-27, the Oracle NetSuite Open is one of the top 10 professional tournaments by prize money on the global Professional Squash Association World Tour. This year, you will see 30 matches played on the Squash Engine Glass Court at Embarcadero Plaza while enjoying panoramic views of the Bay Bridge and the San Francisco Ferry Building.
The squash championship tournament will feature the World No. 2 and defending champion Mohamed Elshorbagy and USA No. 1 and World No. 5 Amanda Sobhy, who will seek the title on the women’s side.
The entire field will be competing for a $242,000 total purse, split evenly between the men's and women's divisions. One of the world tour's more prestigious events, the championship annually showcases many of the top international players.
Tournament promoter John Nimick of Squash Engine, Inc. is enthusiastic about the return of the event after a one-year hiatus due to the pandemic. “All the international players love coming to San Francisco and they are eager to compete as the World Tour restarts across the globe. We expect a packed draw and sold-out sessions at our pop-up 500-seat stadium on the Embarcadero.”
Matches are played best-of-three games, which allows fans to view four matches each session. The final evening, September 27 will revert to a best-of-five game format. Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or negative COVID-19 test required for entry. For complete schedule information, please visit www.oraclenetsuiteopen.com.
