Sales Intern

The Convention Sales Intern will gain hands-on experience in the destination marketing organization (DMO) industry while providing support to the Convention Sales team. This internship focuses on learning core systems, understanding the convention booking process and developing skills in lead management and event coordination. The intern will receive comprehensive training on entry level industry practices and SF Travel’s role in bringing meetings and conventions to San Francisco.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Training and Development Focus

  • Learn SF Travel's core systems for lead management, event coordination, and internal resources
  • Gain understanding of the DMO industry and SF Travel's mission to bring conventions to San Francisco
  • Develop proficiency in end-to-end convention workflow from RFP review through event arrival
  • Master lead entry processes and data management best practices
  • Learn bulletin processing procedures for revised, lost, and booking bulletins
  • Explore advanced tools including Planner Navigator and RFP Showcase (capacity dependent)

Operational Support

  • Assist with RFP review and analysis through Cvent system
  • Support lead entry and data management in Salesforce
  • Monitor event timelines and status updates
  • Assist with bulletin processing and distribution
  • Provide administrative support to Convention Sales team
  • Participate in client communication and coordination activities

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Currently enrolled in college or university program
  • Interest in hospitality, tourism, business, or related field
  • Previous internship or work experience preferred but not required
  • Basic understanding of customer service principles

  • Technical aptitude for learning database and event management systems

Compensation

$20/hour

  • Must be able to work a schedule within our standard business operating hours (M-F 8-5)
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds when supporting events or meeting set up
