The San Francisco Giants and Relix are teaming up to present The Heart of Town, a special three-night concert series celebrating the Grateful Dead’s 60th anniversary and the enduring spirit of San Francisco. Grahame Lesh & Friends host the shows from July 31 to August 2 at Pier 48 in Mission Rock, located just steps from Oracle Park.

Head to the San Francisco Public Library on July 31 to discover the inside story of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead by filmmaker Len Dell’Amico, one of the few non-band members welcomed into the Dead's inner circle. He'll be joined by music journalist Dean Budnick.

Before the shows start in Golden Gate Park, visit Shakedown Street, a Deadhead marketplace full of handmade art, screen-printed shirts, crystals, and more. The market will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., August 1-3, along Golden Gate Park's JFK Promenade, between Transverse Drive and Blue Heron Lake Drive. It's free to browse. Be aware that no food or beverage vendors will be on site and that alcohol is prohibited along Shakedown Street.

23rd Annual Jerry Day

McLaren Park

No one is more synonymous with the Grateful Dead than lead guitarist and San Francisco native Jerry Garcia. It's no wonder, then, that he's had his own city holiday for more than 20 years! Head to the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater on Saturday, August 2 for an afternoon of rock 'n' roll. The theater will open at 11 a.m. and the show will start at 11:30.
