SF Personality: Broke-Ass-Stuart
- Neighborhood: SOMA/Mission border. I call it the Smission
- What do you love about your neighborhood? It's SO central, I can walk pretty much anywhere I need to go. Also a lot of rad new places have opened up by me like The Willows and The Gaslamp Cafe.
- Native or Transplant: Trasplant. I grew up in San Diego but I've been here for most of my adult life. San Francisco has my heart forever.
- How long have you lived in San Francisco: 11 years
- Gig: Travel writer, blogger, TV host, party thrower, bartender and general bon vivant.
- San Francisco is…anything you want it to be...almost.
What do you like better: Bay Bridge or the Golden Gate Bridge?
Currently the Golden Gate Bridge because it's just so regal and legendary. But if people come to their senses and name the Bay Bridge after Emperor Norton, then the Emperor Norton Bridge will totally be my favorite.
What's your favorite neighborhood to hang out in (other than your own)?
Probably North Beach. There's something so romantic and European about it. Plus it has some of the coolest, oldest and most interesting bars in the city.
What restaurant have you been meaning to eat at, but haven't?
1601 Bar & Kitchen since it's near where I live and supposed to be awesome.
What is your go-to drink spot?
Spec's. It's the best bar in the world. Every dive bar secretly wishes it was Spec's, even if they don't know it.
"If people come to their senses and name the Bay Bridge after Emperor Norton, then the Emperor Norton Bridge will totally be my favorite."
What is your favorite spot to snap a photo in San Francisco?
Wherever I find the weird crap that I come across. I mean have you seen my instagram feed? I find the strangest stuff in this town.
What's your favorite outdoor activity?
Going to the Russian River and just chilling by the waterside with my unruly friends.
What is the one celebration in the city you look forward to every year?
Pride is always incredible and my family comes in town for it now. Also Burning Man is pretty great because the city empties out and suddenly there aren't lines anywhere.
What is your favorite place in San Francisco to act like a tourist?
Twin Peaks on a nice day. It's breathtaking.
What kind of cool events are you throwing right now?
I do a rad happy hour party on Wednesdays at the Cellar called Color Me Badd. It's 90s slow jamz, coloring books, super cheap drinks, and bar snacks. It's so much fun it will make you do the running man.
