Stories from the Spinlister Community

One of our favorite parts about Spinlister is that we get to connect like-minded individuals all over the world. Our platform allows users to rent out their bicycles, giving other bike enthusiasts the ability to ride while bringing in some extra cash. In over 63 countries worldwide, renters are able to find bicycles that perfectly fit their own unique riding needs and style preferences. The Spinlister team has seen so many positive experiences result from bringing renters and listers together, and we’d like to share some of our favorite stories with you. 

When you’re caught in a pickle...
Cole M., a San Francisco native, found himself in a tough situation when his personal bike was stolen from his garage the night before he was to compete in IRONMAN 70.3 Vineman. He scoured the local bike shops for a suitable replacement but came up empty-handed. When he heard about Spinlister, he requested Matthew’s Tarmac Expert, received a response within an hour and picked up the bike. Cole claimed that the bike he rented from Spinlister was even faster than his own bike and he ended up with a new PR. 

Sure Beats Selling Lemonade!
Steve of Portland, OR helped his 12-year-old daughter Kari list her bike on Spinlister. Last summer, Kari made $250 by renting her bike out to tourists visiting the area. Steve emailed us a note about how excited Kari was for making so much money. Steve also has four other bikes listed, which have earned him over $650.

Spinlister Makes Jet-Setting Easier
Rovilson, aka “Tito,” is a Brazilian amateur athlete who travels around the world to compete. Shipping bikes can get quite expensive, especially internationally, so Tito relies on Spinlister to provide top-notch bikes wherever he goes. In May 2015, Tito soared through the finish line of Gran Fondo NY on a Giant Defy Advanced 2015 rented from Jeff’s Bicycles NYC, a Spinlister partner bike shop. Tito recently participated in the PrudentialRide London at the beginning of August. He reserved a bike from Spinlister pro-athlete Brad Williams and raced like a pro himself.

We All Remember Our First Bike Ride
Julia’s grandson, Lucas, was visiting her in Austin, TX when she decided that she wanted to be the one to teach him how to ride his first bicycle. Purchasing a bike that Lucas would quickly outgrow was too expensive, so Julia decided to rent one on Spinlister for the weekend. She found the perfect bike listed by Mathias at Woom Bikes designed specifically for teaching children. She said that Lucas had the time of his life and refused to get off of the bike for the entire four-day rental (even when it started raining).

From Paris to Milan
Thomas B. is a frequent tour rider from Paris who often backpacks around the world. He rented a bike in Milan from Federico to do a two-day tour of Lake Como. Thomas had such a great experience that he decided to list his own bikes on Spinlister once he got back to Paris, and he has been consistently renting them out ever since.

Car-Free Actress Makes Extra Cash
Catherine is a car-free actress who has made over $260 by renting her bikes out on Spinlister. She lives in Hollywood close to the train and buses, making it easy for renters to pick up her ride. She is a popular lister because she offers her renters tips on group rides, routes and various bike resources in Los Angeles - information that’s hard to come by if you’re from out of town. Catherine built her first custom bike this year: a “vintage hospital blue” Capricorn which she also has available for rent. Her reviews note how incredibly sweet and quick to respond she is. Spinlister wants to say thanks for being such a great lister, Catherine! 

Rob Loves Our Customer Service
Listers rest easy knowing that their bikes are safe, because Spinlister offers a guarantee of all bikes for up to $10,000 against theft and damage. Although problems rarely occur on the platform, events outside the control of either party can crop up. Rob in Brooklyn, NY rented his bike to Jesse and, unfortunately, Jesse had a collision with a car. Thankfully Jesse was okay, but the bike’s handlebars and brakes were damaged.  The Spinlister team did their jobs and got Rob’s bike working like new again. He was so pleased that he sent Spinlister’s CMO a touching email. It read, “I received my bike back about an hour ago, and was completely blown away by your customer service team’s efforts, care and attention. There are no words that can truly best describe the gratitude I have for the efforts of your team. I will absolutely be recommending Spinlister to everyone I meet ... I feel it's the least I can do in return for such an experience.” Well shucks, Rob.
